The M.A.D.1S “Grow Your Dreams” is a colourful mechanical watch collection created by M.A.D.Editions in collaboration with British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori. Inspired by Ilori’s philosophy of optimism, personal growth and nurturing one’s ambitions, the collection uses vivid colours, mismatched combinations and botanical patterns to transform mechanical watchmaking into an energetic visual expression.

The collection consists of three themes: Sun, Nature and Water, each limited to 400 pieces. Inspired respectively by sunlight, the natural world and water, the three editions use distinct rotor colours, bezel accents and rubber straps to establish their individual identities. The watches retain the lateral time display and fast-spinning rotor associated with the M.A.D. concept while introducing the slimmer and more streamlined M.A.D.1S case.

• Three limited-edition themes

The collection comprises Sun, Nature and Water, with each version limited to 400 pieces. The individual colour schemes express energy, growth and fluidity.

• Sun edition

Sun features a yellow rotor with yellow and green straps. Its bright palette represents sunlight, positive energy and the encouragement required for dreams to grow.

• Nature edition

Nature is fitted with a green rotor and contrasting purple and red straps. The bold combination reflects plant growth, natural vitality and creative expression.

• Water edition

Water features a blue rotor with dark-blue and light-blue straps. The tonal combination evokes the depth, movement and calmness of water.

• 42 mm stainless-steel case

The watch has a 42 mm case made from 316L stainless steel and measures 15 mm in height. Reworked lugs create a sleeker profile and help the case sit comfortably on the wrist.

• HyCeram colour accents

Coloured HyCeram accents are integrated into the bezel, extending the visual identity of each edition from the strap to the case.

• Lateral hour display

The time is displayed on a rotating hour cylinder positioned along the side of the case. Super-LumiNova numerals allow the hours to remain visible in low-light conditions.

• Single-cylinder construction

The M.A.D.1S uses a single rotating hour cylinder instead of the two-cylinder display found on earlier M.A.D.1 editions, contributing to its reduced case height.

• Titanium winding rotor

A prominent titanium automatic-winding rotor occupies the centre of the watch. Its rapid rotation transforms the winding mechanism into the principal kinetic feature of the design.

• Luminous rotor accents

The titanium rotor incorporates Super-LumiNova details, adding a further visual dimension in darkness and highlighting the colour theme of each edition.

• La Joux-Perret G101 movement

The watch is powered by the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 automatic mechanical movement. Its unidirectional winding system allows the rotor to rotate freely and at high speed.

• Mismatched rubber straps

Each edition is supplied with two differently coloured rubber strap sections. Their intentionally mismatched appearance reflects Yinka Ilori’s distinctive use of colour.

• Stamped leaf pattern

The rubber straps feature a stamped leaf motif, referring to the artist’s recurring use of trees as symbols of patience, growth and the gradual development of dreams.

• Additional white strap

Each watch is also supplied with an interchangeable white rubber strap, offering a more restrained alternative to the original colour combination.

• Folding buckle

The rubber strap is secured by a stainless-steel folding buckle designed for convenient and stable everyday wear.

• Transparent crystal construction

The watch uses mineral glass and sapphire crystal components treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides, providing a clear view of the rotating mechanism.
